New Profile Photo: The Yellow Recipe Box

Changes, changes...

I'd grown tired of the photo in my sidebar and tried for a long time to get a photo of me that I could live with day in and day out. Well, as I grow older, those photos get far-er and fewer between and, being decidedly un-photogenic IMHO, I'm just vain enough to be selective with what I will let the public view.
So it seems that I have turned into my old yellow recipe box. The one crammed full of recipes from my mother, my sisters, old family friends, dear current friends, and me. Much like me when I'm in my kitchen, this venerable and well-used recipe box is usually covered with the smears and smudges of a lifetime of cooking. It was given a good washing for this photo but rest assured, the smudges and smears are back. I'm quite comfortable with this as a profile photo; it holds a lot of the essence of me as a cook.
Now if I could just figure out how to separate my garden blog from this one. A yellow recipe box on a garden blog somehow doesn't fit... Anyone got any clues?

  1. I am afraid Blogger does not allow you to have a double identity. The recipe box photo is cute. However, the photo you had before was nice too.

  2. As I'm getting older Christine, I'm finding that I think I looked really good at 30, and not too bad at 50. So now I'm asking myself what will today look like when I'm 70 and the answer is probably better than I think today.
I do like the yellow file box. For a while. . .

  3. I'll tell you what, Simona. You take a killer photo of me and I'll use it. Hey, I just got my hair cut. Maybe now's the time.

Tanna, You are a philosopher extraordinaire! I love how you see life!

  4. Dear Christine Cooks readers,
I've actually met the fabulous Christine and she's quite a babe actually. (I told my brother Rand, she looks just like I wish I looked!)

The recipe box is cute in it's own way, but I also vote for Simona taking a nice picture of you too, one that you're happy with and that shows off how pretty you are.

  5. Thank you Kalyn for your very sweet words but now I'm blushing. In writing this post, it really was not my intent to bring attention to me or my looks. I've really got to engage my self-filter more often. :)
Still, the challenge to Simona is on the table. Will we ever hear from her?

  6. Of course I take up the challenge. Will I have time to take a crash course in portrait photography first? Just kidding. We'll take a bunch of photos on Monday and we'll see what happens.

  7. I think the yellow recipe box looks just like I thought you would look! A real photo is nice, but does it have the pizazz the yellow box does? I don't know.

  8. You're on, Simona!

    Hi there Cyn,
I, myself, really like the yellow recipe box. It and I go back a long way together.

  9. Yes, the photo of you was lovely, and helped me feel as though we were chatting round the kitchen table. But I liked the cheery yellow recipe box, too!

  10. Thank you Mimi. I think I'm going to end up with a photo of me for the very reason you state: I'd rather chat around the kitchen table with my blogger friends "in person" than through a recipe box - much as I love it.
