It's Crab Season!

The stacks of traps had been growing by height and breadth for several weeks in anticipation of opening day when right on time this year, with fairly calm if wet weather, crab season opened at 12:01 this morning.

All of we local crab lovers (some are crab fisherman lovers as well) wish our fleet safe sailing and a substantial catch.

Break out the champagne, pull out a recipe or two, and celebrate!

How wonderful! Crab is so expensive here that I rarely buy it.

Another reason to move to California, Kalyn!

Christine, I love crab! I wish I lived near the coast.

Thank you Simona. The first one is usually the best.

Thanks for stopping by, Nisrene. You get soft-shell crab there, don't you?

Lucky you!! Champagne and fresh local Crab just about sounds perfect! I wish the fleet a good catch too.

Christine, You are hard to buy for. I will be sending your Season's Eating box out tomorrow. So glad I was chosen to be your Secret Santa.

Oooooh. Y'know, I've been in California a lot, and I'm not sure if I've ever set out to eat a fresh crab. You're making me resolve to do something about that.

Thanks Carol. We are indeed lucky.

How delightful Penny! I'm looking forward to receiving your gift.

Hi there Chicken F, Mendo and SF at Fisherman's Warf, all should have crab by now. And, check out the coast up your way too.
